Beautiful and Spacious Bed & Breakfast *

The Sugar Tree Farms farmhouse was built in the late nineteenth century. The Hollingsworth family owned and farmed its fields in the early to mid-twentieth century. In the late twentieth century the house and about 40 surrounding acres were purchased and extensively renvoated by Paul and Cathy Mifsud. The Mifsud’s had the house stripped to its beams and foundation. It was then jacked up and a new foundation built. Renovations included new heating, plumbing, air conditioning, new wiring and the addition of a new kitchen and family room. The wide floorboards and banisters are still original, but the floor plan itself changed. A first floor bedroom and bathroom are now featured, and the dining room fireplace, while still in it’s original location, now has a soapstone hearth.

Two bedrooms, each with its own bath, were added upstairs, and a gas fireplace installed in the family room. The large kitchen features a dishwasher, U Shaped counter top and custom oak cabinetry. Indirect lighting in the kitchen produces a soft, warm glow at night. The house has been professionaly decorated throughout with antique dressers, desks, lamps, and artwork.

The house is immediately adjacent to Salt Fork State Park. Park attractions include an 18-hole golf championship golf course, two marinas, hiking, and fishing. Nearby stables offer horseback riding. Also nearby are paint ball courses and hayrides. Directions and phone numbers are available at the house.

While our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need to prepare and eat a meal, if you prefer there are many restaurants near. In addition to fine dining at the park’s lodge, enjoy breakfast with local farmers in Winterset, just 4 miles away. The city of Cambridge, about 12 miles away, offers the Forum, the Longbranch, and several restaurant chains. More restaurants and directions are available for you in our house.

In addition to the farmhouse, Sugar Tree Farms has a barn for boarding horses, a pasture, and a riding paddock. There are no additional charges for these features, but please let us know if you are bringing a horse. We do not allow smoking in our house and we do not rent to hunters. Guns are prohibited from being discharged on our property.

This is an excellent property to unwind and completely unplug. The scenery is beautiful, the house is very clean, and the hosts couldn't be nicer or more helpful. We will definitely return. Thanks!

The caretakers of this beautiful home went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for our weekend stay. The decor was spectacular! The location is quite remote, but great for a quiet getaway!

We visited Sugar Tree Farms for a long weekend and had a great time! Sugar Tree Farms was very spacious and it felt like home away from home. Our kids enjoyed our time there as well and we cannot wait to go back! Highly recommend!
